The purpose of the seminar is to raise awareness on the need to develop a comprehensive national regulatory infrastructure for radiation safety. The seminar is specifically organized for the IAEA Member States in Africa currently without an adequate radiation safety infrastructure, with shortcomings in the regulatory framework and in the protection of workers and patients from ionizing radiation. The seminar has also the objective to get the political commitment and governmental support necessary for national organizations in charge of establishing and maintaining the regulatory infrastructure for radiation safety.
