RAF1007: Regional Meeting of High-Level Representatives to Support New Research Reactor Programmes

The purpose of the event is: - This meeting will introduce high-level representatives of African Member States the options and steps to develop a nuclear science application based on research reactors, and what it entails in terms of nuclear infrastructure, capacity building, education and training in their country and benefiting from facilities outside their countries, - To discuss with representatives of African Member States IAEA technical assistance for establishing and developing of national nuclear infrastructure, including nuclear safety, capacity building, education and training to support new research reactor programmes, taking into consideration the existing and potential regional capabilities, - To discuss opportunities to access existing research reactors and ancillary facilities for development of nuclear science and technology programmes.
