- Access to technical expertise, forums, agreements and resources locally and internationally, coupled with the AFRA regional recognition by virtue of its good practices;
- Greater recognition by African stakeholders of the necessity to enlarge the scope of nuclear applications for socio-economic development;
- Increasing number of African Atomic Energy Commissions (AECs) and National Nuclear Institutions (NNIs) which are pursuing the path to sustainability through enhanced relevance, management practice and accountability;
- The negative/positive impact of globalisation, for example the restructuring of some AECs in Member States, the updating of standards, re-regulation of certain industries in the mining sector;
- Cooperation with and involvement in regional initiatives such as NEPAD and other Sister Agreements, such as ARASIA, ARCAL, and RCA;
- The availability of policies and processes to collect and manage voluntary contributions from Member States and other donors;
- Emergence of new technological developments for socio-economic development cost-effectively.
